Brooklyn Schumm was eager to hear what Michelle Rick, Gratiot County Circuit Court judge and advocate of preventing human trafficking, had to say on the subject. Schumm and five other students took part in a week-long, non-credit course at Alma College and used experiences such as meeting with Rick and other community leaders, and volunteering at food pantries, among other things, to learn about community organizations and service.
