Third Thursday Innovation Conversations May 20 @ 3:00 p.m. Reducing the Cost of Attendance by Eliminating Expensive Textbooks Research indicates that students should spend an average of $1000 per year on textbooks. In reality, fewer than half of students actually purchase required texts. Many seek older editions or library alternatives. For students who struggle to pay for college (first-generation and full-Pell)not having access to learning materials places them at significant risk for dropping out of college. In the fall of 2020, the University of Pikeville adopted a policy that made all learning materials available to students free of any additional cost. Sponsored by: National Management Resources
