The Chronicle of Higher Education has been tracking the reopening plans of colleges and universities for several months. The information is being updated regularly and provides thumbnail information about each school's current plan as well as a link to detail reopening information on each school's website. Stevens & Lee/Griffin and Academic Innovators have developed a series of complimentary on-demand webinars on strategic alternatives in higher education, the first of which is, Strategic Planning in the Age of Coronavirus and Beyond: Tactics to Survive the Pandemic Now and Evaluating Your Strategic Alternatives for the Future.  This initial presentation will focus on the value of an independent strategic alternative study that helps to (1) evaluate the impact of the evolving external landscape on your institution, (2) affirm and validate your financial viability, and (3) provide a feasible assessment of the long term alternatives for your institution. This July 30 webinar, hosted by former APCU-member president and current NAICU president, Barbara Mistick, will offer an update on the Centers for Disease Control’s guidelines and recommendations for re-opening campuses, and identify the tools and resources available to help colleges and universities prepare for the fall semester. This is the recorded version of a webinar that took place on June 10, 2020. The presenter is an attorney who has worked with EIIA for a number of years on Title IX related issues and she covers a number of items related to the updated regulations, including responsible officials, training requirements, notifications, and emergency measures. This article was recently published in the Journal of the American Medical Association and discusses the results of a 2007 pandemic preparedness study by the University of Michigan's Center for the History of Medicine. In particular, the study focused on the impact of social distancing and quarantine during the 1918 influenza pandemic on death rates in U.S. cities and how what we can learn from that to assist our current planning efforts.
