Marjorie Hass, Ph.D., president of Austin College in Sherman, TX, has been appointed chair of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU). NAICU board members set the association’s agenda on federal higher education policy; actively encourage support of association priorities and initiatives; and oversee the organization’s financial administration. The College of Idaho’s distinctive Craig Neilsen Foundation Lectureship in Judaic Studies will host Professor J.H. Chajes from the University of Haifa on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Professor Chajes will present two seminars for C of I students as well as the public lecture “Jewish Magic, Magical Judaism,” which is set for 7 p.m. in Lecture Hall 106 of the Kathryn Albertson International Center. Opal Tometi, co-founder of Black Lives Matter, the loosely organized group that turned a protest rallying cry into a political movement is scheduled to speak at Eckerd College on February 29th. Tometi, who was a runnerup for Time's 2015 Person of the Year, also serves as executive director of the Black Alliance for Just Immigration  More.

Steve Case will be the featured speaker at Whitworth University’s spring President’s Leadership Forum, to be held Tuesday, May 3, at 7:30-9 a.m. at the Spokane Convention Center. Case’s entrepreneurial career began in 1985, when he co-founded America Online (AOL). Under his leadership, AOL became the world’s largest and most valuable Internet company, driving the worldwide adoption that has transformed business and society. More.
