And that's exactly what we'll be exploring at the 2019 APCU Presidents' Conference!

APCU presidents are invited to gather in Louisville, Kentucky from March 19 through March 21 for three days of discussion, debate and professional development. Based on input from a number of our presidents, this year's conference format will forgo traditional presentations in exchange for a series of interactive sessions led by APCU member presidents. 

Our goal here is interaction between and among our presidents that focuses on how our members are addressing critical challenges--and finding paths to sustainable success. Most of all, we want to allow participants to share their questions, ideas, and concerns while learning more about each other and the good work taking place across our network of schools. (And if we're not careful, we might also enjoy each other's company!) 

Idea Sharing/Problem Solving

Each of the presidents in attendance will be invited to contribute (in advance) to the interactive sessions by sharing several of the biggest challenges and most notable successes facing his/her institution. Here are several topics already slotted into our program:

  • Getting the most from your Trustees: This session/discussion will focus on ways to re-organize and/or re-purpose the work of your board and, potentially, the roles of your trustees, to help you address strategic institutional objectives.  

  • Managing your enrollment management operation: While most of the revenue emphasis attention is focused on fund-raising, the key to financial success for many of our schools is based on effective management of the data, strategies and personnel that drive enrollments. 

  • Long-term, sustainable campus business models: Many of our schools have developed “just in time” strategies to cut costs while maintaining or boosting net-tuition revenue. But are these strategies affordable and viable for the long-term health of our institutions?

  • Leveraging your Presbyterian affiliation: There are many benefits that can be realized from our historical connections to the PCUSA. A number of APCU schools are finding ways to make the most of this connection--on their own and in partnership with various church agencies.

Once you submit your registration form you'll receive a follow-up message asking you to share additional information about challenges and success stories that are impacting your institution.

Opening Reception

When in Louisville, do as the Presbyterians do...or at least invite them to be part of your conference! Our opening reception will give APCU presidents the opportunity to meet and greet the leaders the Presbyterian Church (USA), which is headquartered just a few blocks from our venue. Weather permitting, our reception will take place on the roof--as in the Brown Hotel's newly renovated rooftop garden that overlooks downtown Louisville.
